Carolina Trust Federal Credit Union Receives Diamond Award for Complete Campaign, Lime Rewards Brings a Refreshing Twist to Any Wallet

Carolina Trust Federal Credit Union was recently honored with a Complete Campaign Diamond Award, which recognizes outstanding marketing and business development achievements in the credit union industry.

The award was presented by the CUNA Marketing & Business Development Council, a national network comprised of over 1,200 credit union marketing and business development professionals. Awards are given in each of 35 categories ranging from advertising to community events and beyond.

Carolina Trust won the Complete Campaign Award for its entry, entitled LimeRewards Bring a Refreshing Twist to Any Wallet. The campaign originated in 2019, when several enhancements were made to the credit union’s consumer credit card program and they launched the new credit cards across multiple advertising channels. Marketing efforts included strategically placed print advertisements, billboards, segmented direct mail, email marketing and digital advertising. In addition, Carolina Trust filmed their Lime Credit Card commercial at local establishments (A Touch of Brazil, HI-FI Coffee Bar, Johnny D’s Waffles and Benedicts, Mustard Seed Boutique, and Coastal Carolina University) in attempts to promote shopping local, while also advertising the use of their new cards. There are three cards available in Carolina Trust’s Lime card line up, LimeEssentials, LimeRewards, and LimeRewards+. They chose to focus their marketing efforts on the mid-tier card, LimeRewards, because of the card’s qualification metrics and incentives.

“We are so honored to receive such an esteemed award for our credit card campaign,” said Carolina Trust Board Chairman, B. Michael Marlowe. “When Carolina Trust decided to revamp our credit card program, we wanted to offer benefits and options that were better suited to our member’s needs. Because of the creation and advertisement of our new credit cards, we were able to provide our members with a means of financial security during the economic uncertainty that many faced during the pandemic. Being able to offer this new program for our members at just the right time allowed us to do our part in living out the credit union philosophy by helping the people in our community. “

“The Diamond Awards competition is the most prestigious competition for excellence in marketing and business development in the credit union industry,” said Amy McGraw, diamond awards chair and VP marketing/chief experience officer at Tropical Financial CU. “Credit unions that receive these awards should be extremely proud of their accomplishments and know that their work represents the very best examples of creativity, innovation, relevance and execution.”

CUNA Marketing & Business Development Council celebrated Diamond Awards Week by announcing winners in 35 categories through a series of daily virtual award ceremonies. Turnout was outstanding for this year’s award competition with 1,278 entries submitted. Six credit unions won Best of Show Awards, 86 won Category’s Best Awards and 264 won Diamond Awards.
